Reactivity

NICKEL CHLORIDE is a yellow, crystalline material, mildly toxic, carcinogenic. On contact with strong acids or acid fumes it produces highly toxic and corrosive hydrogen chloride gas. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic chloride fumes [Lewis, 3rd ed., 1993, p. 915].
